About Us
Our Story
Casa Bella Palm Springs began as a dream—one that took shape under the warm desert sun after too many gray, rainy days in Portland. I longed for a space where I could escape the drizzle, recharge in the golden light, and surround myself with the beauty of the desert. But more than that, I wanted to create a place I could share—with friends, family, and fellow travelers seeking warmth, inspiration, and a sense of ease.
This home is an ever-evolving labor of love, and I’ve poured my heart into every detail. As a one-woman show, I did the majority of the work myself—from painting nearly everything inside and outside to curating furniture, styling each corner to reflect the effortless charm of Palm Springs. Many of the pieces here have been with me for years, while others were carefully sourced from vintage shops and local spots in the area. Every item has a story, and together, they create an atmosphere that I hope you find inspiring and comfortable.
I designed Casa Bella to feel like a true retreat—a space that welcomes small groups, solo travelers, girls' weekends, boys' trips, and family getaways alike. Whether you're here to unwind by the pool, write your next book, or just soak in the desert magic, I hope you feel the warmth and comfort here.
As an artist and designer, aesthetics are second nature to me, and Casa Bella reflects my love for color, form, and storytelling. If you're curious about my other work, you can find me at Sara Schmidt Design or reach out directly—I’d love to connect.
Thank you for being part of Casa Bella’s journey. It keeps getting better every year, and I can’t wait for you to experience it.
Welcome to your desert home away from home.
